January 17, 2027 celebrates World Religion Day, plus 3 more. Every year on the third Sunday in January, people from all cultures and backgrounds come together World Religion Day. The day celebrates the commonality of the major faiths of the world.It may surprise you to know that there are over 4,000 recognized religions in the world. These religions consist of churches, congregations, faith groups, tribes, cultures, and movements. On the third Sunday in January, World Snow Day promotes winter sports for young people. The two sports in particular that are highlighted include recreational skiing and snowboarding. It’s also a day for young people to learn about winter sports safety as well as the importance of caring for the environment.
On January 17th, International Mentoring Day fosters a global understanding of the mentoring movement throughout the world. The day also raises awareness for the global contributions of mentoring.
January 17 is World Waterfowl Day and we are spreading awareness, knowledge, and interest for waterfowl, as well as the conservation of these birds and their habitats.

Inventor Andrew S. Hallidie received the first U.S. patent for the cable car. His invention described in U.S. patent No.110,971 consisted of a series of pulleys and cables designed to transport a bucket or car along a track. In 1873, Hallidie oversaw the installation of the first cable car in San Francisco, California at Clay Street.
