INTERNATIONAL BEER AND PIZZA DAY
On October 9th, International Beer and Pizza Day celebrates one of the world’s best combinations of food and drink. It’s also a day to remember the good things in life!
What are some of your favorite food and drink combinations? Is it milk and cookies? Cheese and wine? Donuts and coffee? What about beer and pizza? This food and beverage definitely seem like they were made for each other. Many would agree that certain types of beer taste especially good with certain types of pizza. This is because pizza and beer enhance or contrast flavors with each other.
For example, Margherita pizza pairs well with a pale ale. The malt flavor of the ale complements the pizza’s toasty crust. If you enjoy light beer, try it with a classic cheese pizza. Mushroom and spinach pizza tastes great with a stout. One more combination to try is pepperoni pizza and an India Pale Ale. Some people, though, like any kind of beer with any kind of pizza. You don’t have to worry about being left out if you don’t drink alcohol. Pizza even tastes great with non-alcoholic beer.
HOW TO OBSERVE #BeerAndPizzaDay
On this day, many pizza places and restaurants offer specials on pizza and beer. Small town breweries, beer corporations, and worldwide pizza chains also celebrate this day. If you are over the legal drinking age, the best way to observe this day is to have a beer with your pizza. You could even have a beer and pizza party with your friends and family. Try a different kind of beer or pizza you have never had before.
As you eat your pizza and drink your beer, you may want to watch one of these movies that have great pizza scenes:
- Iron Man
- Home Alone 2
- Do the Right Thing
- Back to the Future II
- Dude, Where’s My Car?
- Wayne’s World
