The story of the Marine nickname “Devil Dogs” begins at the Battle of Belleau Wood during World War I.
Eventually, the legend of the name carried over into the film. The Devil Dogs of the Air was inspired by the name starring James Cagney and Pat O’Brien.
Even superheroes were created. In this television series, The Fighting Devil Dogs take on evil villains.
