Susan says, “KOKE-FM plays Texas County Music/Red Dirt Music. They announce & often celebrate national day every day. They had margaritas brought in by a local Tex-Mex restaurant to the morning show (6-10) for national margarita day. That was a fun listen!
They are very strong supporters of the community. KOKE-FM strongly supports (financially & physically) Honor Flight (a program where WWII veterans get a weekend trip to DC to see the memorials for the wars they fought in). To assist the active duty, KOKE works with Houses for soldiers (they got to give the keys to a soldier & his family on the air) & Boot Campaign. KOKE-FM advertises & helps host the Rock the Red Kettle annual December fund raiser for Salvation Army as well as Toys for Tots & Coats for Kids. As a radio station, KOKE is very involved with fund raising to help musicians get insurance or health care thru the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM). They hosted a ‘buy a box’ campaign for the Central Texas food banks raising way more than the goal (they kept raising the goal because it kept getting met!). Being that Austin is home, KOKE-FM fully supports University of Texas Longhorn athletics as the Longhorn Radio Network, broadcasting & often being present at all kinds of sporting events. As a way of helping & supporting the Austin police Department, the KOKE personalities attend often dresses in great costumes & host the phone line for donations for Blue Santa.”
