CLASSROOM | WEEK 37 | May 5, 2019

For National Teacher Appreciation Day, the classroom is sending huge kudos to all the teachers out there for your dedication and hard work throughout the school year. We know the impact you have on our children and our lives as a whole. Your long hours and commitment to a bright future for all our children bring them closer to their goals and dreams daily. Thank you for celebrating their achievements and being a part of their education.

The classroom also looks to the end of the week and National Clean Up Your Room Day as a way to prepare for the end of the school year. While we’re sure your classrooms are organized and neat, students desks, cubbies and lockers sometimes become cluttered. Forgotten projects, misplaced objects and books, broken pencils and other such items find their way into the most unusual places.

Enlist your students to tidy up more than usual. Here are some ideas:

  • Have students bring a tote to take home any accumulation of personal items.
  • Assign students to inspect the condition of books kept in the classroom. Those with exceptional wear and tear may need some preventative repair.
  • Games with missing pieces can be placed on a report. Replacement parts can be found at garage sales or swaps.
  • Desks, cubbies, and lockers can be decluttered.

As always, the classroom includes puzzles and trivia to keep things interesting. The archive contains projects from previous celebrations, so be sure to check those out, too.
