CLASSROOM – Cartoonists

The classroom gets creative as National Cartoonist Day on May 5th brings color, art, and humor to our world. We encourage our students to bring out their color crayons, inks, pens, and pencils and tell a story by drawing fun images.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Download and print this week’s project. Share them with parents and guardians to do at home or incorporate them into an assignment. Be sure to check out all the other puzzles and project pages in the National Day Calendar Classroom, too. We add new pages every week for other days we are celebrating! Invite parents to join the class, too. We have plenty of fun and engaging activities for everyone to #CelebrateEveryDay!

Of course, as always, sharing on social media isn’t required; learning is. But if you do, please use #NDCClassroom to share on social media.

THIS WEEK’S PROJECTS

This week we have blank cartoon panels for students to create their stories. Just download and print to use. They can tell the story completely within the panels or they can add a narrative below each panel. Encourage your students to learn about cartooning history or share their favorite cartoons with the class. Other ways to celebrate National Cartoonist Day include asking the adults in their lives about the cartoons they grew up reading and watching as children.

There are over 1,500 national days. Don’t miss a single one. Celebrate Every Day® with National Day Calendar®!
