International Retainer Day on July 19th challenges you to make a commitment to your beautiful smile. The day recognizes what’s behind keeping a straight and beautiful smile years after orthodontic treatment: your retainer, a trusty pal worn by millions of people across the USA and around the world.
Retainers were invented in the early 1900s and help stop teeth from shifting so your smile stays nice and straight. If you don’t wear your retainer after orthodontic treatment, your teeth tend to shift. They may even relapse to their old crooked positions.
On International Retainer Day celebrate wearing your retainer and make it a healthy oral care habit to protect the smile you invested in.

INTERNATIONAL RETAINER DAY HISTORY
In 2021, Vivera® Retainers (from the makers of Invisalign® clear aligners, Align Technology) submitted International Retainer Day to recognize the importance of wearing a retainer after orthodontic treatment.
The Registrar at National Day Calendar proclaimed the day to be observed on the 19th of July annually.
