    MEET GIA REYNOLDS

This Grand Rapids, Michigan girl loves entertaining and all things party-related and fun! But don’t let that fool you. Gia Reynolds also has been working in the banking industry for over 20 years and absolutely loves it.

Though, her real passion is creating and hosting fabulous dinner parties decked out with delicious and elegant meals and desserts. Gia looks forward to brainstorming party ideas for special events, and that’s why she is the owner and smiling face behind The Houseshoe Hostess Blog.

“I live by the principle that people may not remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel…or what you cooked!”
    ~ Gia Reynolds

    Finding the Celebrate Every Day

Before a back injury, Gia used to cater to large groups of people. While she was recovering, she laid in bed, worried she would lose her passion. However, every day ideas for recipes kept coming to her. She knew what she was going to cook when she recovered and made a promise to Celebrate Every Day! Before she knew it, Gia had several party ideas and recipes formulated. The Houseshoe Hostess was born.
“I love making everyone I come in contact with feel happy and loved.” ~Gia Reynolds
Gia says she has been an unofficial National Day Calendar Ambassador for years. She faithfully posted about national days all the time. So much so, people have started asking her questions about them. That’s definitely an ambassador quality!
Gia also points out that when her kids were younger, she worked a lot, and she often felt guilty about it. She promised herself it would be different with her grandchildren. She brings them fun every chance she gets.

    Fun Friday

Another element she added to her workweek at the bank is known as “Fun Friday.” People are often eager for the weekend or feel the week is dragging. Gia created different party themes every week for the summer to get customers excited, and it worked like a charm. Customers who saw each other every week but never talked suddenly connected and struck up conversations. They laughed and chatted while waiting in line! A positive and welcome change came into the bank lobby.

Most of the time, all it takes is one happy person to change the room’s energy, and Gia brings that energy.

That’s exactly what drew Gia to the National Day Calendar. Even though Gia is one of those happy people who change the energy in a room, Gia says, “National Day Calendar is a happy person who changes the energy.”

  • MIRROR MOM

Also known as Checa, Mirror Mom creatively goes about her day spreading joy and love everywhere she goes. She often says that every time we get to see another day is cause for celebration, and with national days there is literally always a reason to get festive!

Checa uses national days to show that you can party every day instead of waiting for “big holidays”. She loves to learn about new traditions and connect with her family by showing them how other parts of the world celebrate!

“I don’t think outside the box, I live outside the box.” ~ Mirror Mom

Checa says that all her life all she has ever wanted was to be different, stand out, and put smiles on people’s faces. She does by observing the National Days, as well as promoting awareness by advertising them on the “Mirror Mom Mobile”. Sometimes leaving behind doodles on her adventures, and/or smile clips for the smiles save project or simply just because!

The name Mirror Mom comes from the “morning updates” Checa began doing on her restroom mirror for the kids to wake up to. It consisted of the date, weather, affirmation, word of the day, a fun fact, and the National Day, complete with Spanish translations. She used drawings to help convey the information and keep ’em edutained (educated and entertained). The art has now spread to cars, businesses, houses, frames, and various different materials to celebrate the day and other special occasions!

  • WESLEY MILLER-SMITH

    Wesley Miller-Smith

Wesley Miller 1Meet Wesley Miller-Smith – The fabulous Oprah Winfrey once said, “The miracle of your existence calls for celebration every day.” And boy.. was she right!? Seeing this quote inspired me to research “national days of the month” and become a fan of National Day Calendar! True story, y’all! Fast forward 6-7 years later…it’s still my daily routine to jump on the website and figure out what day I will celebrate and tell my friends and family! So much so that I get weekly texts, calls, and messages wondering what day, week, or month of celebration is coming up! To be able to love and enjoy a website and amazing platform every day is why it’s a true privilege to now call myself a National Day Calendar Ambassador!

    Celebrate Every Day!

A native of the Show Me State, I now call sunny San Diego, California home. As a Director of Marketing for a large, nationwide automotive dealership franchise, I rely on National Day Calendar to help post customer content on our dealership social sites and celebrate with the team and customers by providing treats, events, etc. My favorite day memory was when it was National Customer Appreciation Day. For any customer who serviced their vehicle with us that day, we left a small, handwritten thank you note in their cup holder with a coffee gift card! Also, utilizing the National Months has been near and dear with us raising funds and awareness for local organizations. We always recognize American Heart Month, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Pride Month, just to name a few!

    Family

When I am not living my best marketing life, you can find me hanging with my husband, Shaun, and our two pups- Barley and Stella! (Believe me- they benefit from a lot of pet recognized days! Haha!) I enjoy traveling, cooking, reading, running, and I am a wine/bourbon enthusiast. I also have been involved in many facets of pageantry and enjoy empowering young women all over the country to be themselves and live their best lives! So, based on those passions, now you know why I love to #CelebrateEveryDay!

Dacia BiglerDacia (pronounced day-shuh) Woods-Bigler believes a good day is having something to look forward to! She started Celebrating Every Day and following the National Day Calendar to have something fun to look forward to every day and to try new things. Dacia currently works as an executive office property manager in Utah County assisting over 80 tenants. She loves the companies she gets to work with and looks forward to going to work to see some of her best friends. When she is not working, you can find her spending any extra time with her husband. They enjoy getting out of the house for date night, going out to dinner, being outside, taking camping trips, and spending time with family.

    Celebrate Family

Speaking of family, Dacia’s favorite people to celebrate with are her family. Family is the most important thing in her life. She is the youngest of four siblings and has 12 nieces and nephews. Dacia’s favorite National Days to celebrate are:

May 22 – #BeingYouDay because we don’t take enough time to recognize our own strengths and what we love about ourselves. You are the only you, and that is something to celebrate.

Katie says, “Playing classical music is difficult and very stressful. So I enjoy breaking up the monotony of classical music for cello to seeing what else my instrument can do. National Day Calendar inspires me to push out of my comfort zone to see what else the cello can do. All the while have a fun time behind the cello! My hope is that other classical musicians can get into having fun and enjoy life and music. Life is too short to be stressed out so celebrate it every day!”

Celebrate Every Day – More about Katie Chambers

I have been teaching cello, piano, and violin for over 15 years and now get to share music with students all over the world with online classes. We have a great time! Even though the majority of my online presence is solo cello, my first love is collaboration with other talented people. I love to play in musical theater, especially new works. I lent my cello playing to Imagination Stage’s first piece of theater for the very young in 2009. “Wake Up, Brother Bear!” has gone on to tour the world and entertain thousands of young children.

I always look forward to duet concerts with my pianist and best friend Ryan Shookman. Be sure to catch us in Amsterdam on AmaWaterways before we “cruise” away! Of course, I love to play in duos, trios, and quartets for weddings up and down the east coast. But my favorite collaborations are putting the cello where it is least expected! Playing with a gospel choir, hard-core rock band, indi folk artists or country band. The cello has introduced me to many different people and styles of music. The cello has brought me closer to others from all around the world and has brought me closer to myself. I hope to bring that feeling of closeness and togetherness to you with my music or teaching you cello!

  • SANDI KINZEL

    MEET SANDI KINZEL

    Deep Roots

Sandi Kinzel’s roots grow deep. She was born and raised in Madera, California, and graduated from the same high school her parents graduated from 30 years before. After meeting her husband and marrying in 2016, they put down roots in Dinuba, CA – literally. They are almond farmers! They are also dog lovers and have three beautiful children in their blended family.

Speaking of family…Family is probably the most important thing in Sandi’s life. Her parents have always been a great inspiration to her, too. According to Sandi, they are “the best example of true love you will be able to find.” Her parents helped Sandi raise her kids when she was a single mother – being a single mother isn’t easy. Her mother cared for her children after school and her dad filled the “father” role they needed in their life. Her oldest daughter is her bonus daughter. She always says, “I inherited her and my granddaughter.” Sandi and her father recently had the honor of walking her second oldest daughter down the aisle to marry her high school sweetheart, and Sandi is excited to see their future unfold. Her son is enjoying the single life and his new car.

    Quote mark

“…the best example of true love you will be able to find.” – Sandi Kinzel on her parents.

    How Sandi Celebrates

Sandi works for the county in the purchasing department – a job that supports her Rae Dunn collection, her love of dogs, and home decor. She also enjoys photography, gardening, decorating for all the holidays, cooking, camping, collecting Rae Dunn Pottery, and playing with her rescue dogs Max, Cole, Dallas, Dixie, Dolly, and Little One.

Since Sandi lives on 26 acres of land out in the middle of nowhere, she has ample opportunity to love on as many rescues as her family can handle. With the amazing views of the mountains and lots of space, it gives Sandi a lot of great photo opportunities and room for our puppies to run.

She is excited about being an ambassador and helping to inspire people to Celebrate Every Day. She hopes people will join in and celebrate with all of us! Sandi also hopes hope to inspire others and help them to see that there is always something to celebrate.
