  • NATIONAL FARM ANIMALS DAY – April 10

    NATIONAL FARM ANIMALS DAY

Each year on April 10th, National Farm Animals Day focuses attention on the humane care of farm animals. The day also aims to find homes for abandoned and abused farm animals.

    #NationalFarmAnimalsDay

A variety of animals have been domesticated and raised on farms for food. They provide eggs, milk, cheese, meat, wool, leather, and other products. Most farmers raise their livestock responsibly. Providing a quality environment for them to grow benefits the animal and the farmer, too. Farmers invest in their livestock from the time they’re born, providing nutritious food, and ensuring robust and healthy development. They also provide ideal conditions for their breed. Farmers are continually educating themselves about the livestock they raise so they can provide them with the best care possible.

However, some people do abuse and neglect their animals. When poor conditions are discovered, and animals are malnourished, it’s essential to report the case to a veterinarian for review.

    Farm Animals FAQ

    Q. What is a good way to expose children to farm animals?
    A. Most of us grow up in the city or suburbs, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn more about the animals who live on a farm. Some great ways to expose children to farm animals include:

    • Many zoos include a farm display that includes animals like sheep, goats, pigs, cows, chickens, and ducks.
    • Visit a petting zoo. These smaller zoos are home to domesticated animals found on a farm. They often serve as a rescue service, too.
    • Visit a hobby farm. Many hobby farms host times for school-age children to visit their animals in residence. They learn what they eat, where they sleep, and how the farmers care for them.
    • Tour a working farm. Many farmers offer opportunities for school-age children to visit and learn more about farming.
    • Attend a fair. Each year, counties and states host events like 4-H Fairs for farmers and farmer children to showcase their hard work.

    Q. What kinds of animals are found on farms?
    A. Every farm is different and raises different breeds of animals. Some of the animals found on a farm include:

    • Chickens

  • NATIONAL CINNAMON CRESCENT DAY – April 10

    NATIONAL CINNAMON CRESCENT  DAY

It’s time to fill the home with warmth on National Cinnamon Crescent Day! Each year, this pastry holiday causes mouth-watering excitement on April 10th.

    #CinnamonCrescentDay

The crescent-shaped dough is filled with sugar, cinnamon, and butter then rolled, shaped, and baked to a golden brown deliciousness. You can add icing for an extra sweet touch. While they are amazing served piping hot from the oven, these rolls also taste delicious once they’ve cooled down. Don’t hesitate to make extra, because they will not last long.

A crescent roll is similar to a croissant. The outside features a light flaky crust that reveals a warm, buttery inside. The key to a perfect croissant is laminating the dough. Laminating the dough is a process by which butter is folded into the mixture creating multiple thin layers of butter and dough.

While you enjoy eating your crescent roll, remember that cinnamon is a good source of manganese, fiber, iron, and calcium.

  • NATIONAL SIBLINGS DAY | April 10

    NATIONAL SIBLINGS DAY

National Siblings Day (also referred to as Sibling Day) on April 10th each year honors our brothers and sisters.

    #NationalSiblingsDay

Siblings. They are our best friends or our worst enemies. At times, siblings will provide us with our biggest competition, strongest encouragement and remind us of our most embarrassing moments.

Fictional characters describe those siblings best who are both rivals and yet best friends. From The Brady Bunch and the Cosby family to The Simpsons and the Piersons, television siblings tell our stories in humorous and dramatic form.

    When is National Sisters Day?

However, real-life royal siblings Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret had a different set of rules to follow making their relationship quite different from anything we would call normal. Being a queen will do that. Queen Elizabeth’s grandsons, Princes William and Harry and William’s children, too have royal sibling relationships that engage the world.

Playing fictional characters who are siblings and being siblings in front of a television audience must have created a different lifestyle for Mary Kate and Ashley Olson. Their older sister is Elizabeth. Another pair of sibling actors is Shirley MacLaine and Warren Beatty. And don’t forget the exuberant Tia and Tamera Mowry.

    When is Brother’s Day?

There have been plenty of presidents with siblings as well. George W. Bush has five siblings and William Jefferson Clinton has three.

How many siblings do you have? Are you rivals or do you support each other in all you do?

HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL SIBLINGS DAY

    • Celebrate your siblings and the times you’ve had together.
    • Laugh at the awkward and ill-spent time in your youth.
    • Catch up with your sibling(s). Enjoy looking at photos and videos of time spent with your sibling(s).
