AIDS AWARENESS MONTH
AIDS Awareness Month is an annual designation that takes place in October. The acronym AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. This is a late stage of the Human Immune Deficiency Virus (HIV). As of yet, there is no known cure for this ailment, however, some medications can be used to improve the quality and length of life.

President Ronald Reagan declared October to be AIDS Awareness Month in 1988. His goal was to educate the public and prevent the spread of this disease.
